SDK Eases Bluetooth Stereo Development

Based on CSR’s BlueCore5-Multimedia platform, the company’s TrueWireless Stereo SDK allows manufacturers to bring high-quality and innovative Bluetooth stereo headsets and speakers to market quickly. CSR demonstrated TrueWireless Stereo at last week’s 2009 International CES in Las Vegas.

The SDK uses two Bluetooth devices, one as the master and one as the slave. Call handling and control are supported on the master device, which then relays the audio stream to the slave headset. This allows the product to work with any existing A2DP device already on the market. Audio is streamed from the audio source to the master unit and is relayed to the slave using CSR’s proprietary synchronization protocol, resulting in truly wireless stereo sound to either a headset or to speakers.

The kit also features the company’s proprietary audio enhancement technologies, including CVC for improved audio quality through a microphone, and clearer audio through the earpiece by using noise cancellation. TrueWireless Stereo additionally supports Bluetooth version 2.1 + EDR and Sub-band coding or MP3 audio file formats.

The TrueWireless Stereo SDK is available now on a BlueCore5-Multimedia platform.
