MCUs integrate USB 2.0 peripheral
The eight members of Microchip Technology’s PIC18F87J50 8-bit microcontroller family include an integrated and certified USB 2.0 full-speed, 12 Mbps transceiver. Unlike products that can only serve as an interface between a serial port and the USB bus, the PIC18F87J50 family can perform as the sole controller in embedded applications.
The family also includes nanoWatt Technology for low power consumption in sleep mode. Combined with up to 65 available I/Os, 128 KBytes of Flash program memory, 4 KBytes of RAM, a 12-channel, 10-bit ADC, and a parallel master port for connection to external memory and displays, this USB microcontroller family is well suited for embedded-control applications. The PIC18F87J50 family is offered in 64- or 80-pin TQFP package options. Pricing starts at $2.98 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
