Nucleus SMP RTOS Supports Multi-Threaded MIPS32 34K Core

Mentor Graphics now offers support for the multi-threaded MIPS32 34K core with its Nucleus symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) real-time operating system (RTOS). The result is application performance improvements by more than 20% without increasing power consumption or silicon size. The performance increase was achieved using EEMBC CoreMark, a simple and sophisticated benchmark for testing processor core functionality. Nucleus RTOS provides the software framework for SMP that includes load balancing, task and interrupt affinity, conditional bound computation, and support for the multiple hardware threads on the same CPU core. Performance gains are feasible for a wide range of systems including mobile and machine-to-machine applications. For more info, visit www.mentor.com/nucleus.
