Name change for Nortel
Nortel PEC Solutions has announced that the company has been renamed Nortel Government Solutions Inc. The change reflects the company's singular focus on being a trusted supplier of mission-critical systems and secure network communication solutions and services for the U.S. government.
“Our new name more accurately speaks to our emphasis on delivering unique combinations of advanced technologies and integration services to the government market,” said Chuck Saffell, president and chief executive officer, Nortel Government Solutions. “The change is in name only. Our government customers will continue to receive the same high level of services and high-quality technologies from Nortel Government Solutions as they have enjoyed with Nortel PEC Solutions.”
PEC Solutions was acquired by Nortel in mid-2005 and remains wholly-owned by Nortel. Since the acquisition, the company has expanded its efforts to help government ensure the safety, livelihood and well being of its citizens. Notable projects in 2005 included deployment of a cutting-edge wireless mesh system in support of NASA's historic Return to Flight; provisioning of critical communications for the new headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; development of an electronic pharmaceutical tracking system for the Drug Enforcement Administration; and expansion of software development support for the U.S. Postal Service's PostalOne! automated mailing service.
