NXP powers Chinese handset

China's biggest mobile handset manufacturer Lenovo Mobile Communication Technology Ltd. has chosen NXP Semiconductors' EDGE solution for its first EDGE mobile handset. Lenovo Mobile will mass produce its first EDGE mobile phone in China using NXP's Nexperia cellular system solution 5210. This mobile handset is designed around consumers' latest demands to cost effectively offer optimized and applied functions, helping end-users transition from 2G to 3G.

NXP's Nexperia cellular system solution 5210 is the second-generation product of the EDGE platform, following the success of the market-proven Nexperia cellular system solution 6120. Its GSM/GPRS/EDGE platform combines software and hardware designs that can provide optimized multimedia performance without the need for an external co-processor, significantly reducing BOM. This state-of-the-art solution comes pre-tested and validated to enable Lenovo Mobile to accelerate time to market and develop EDGE mobile handsets with more advanced features, more cost efficiency and stronger power management, said NXP.
