Broadband PA
The model AMF-2B-00030300-150-32P from MITEQ is an addition to the company's family of broadband power amplifiers. The unit is rated for 2 W, and offers 20 dB of gain from 30 MHz to 3 GHz. The 24 V voltage required by the device is internally gated from the external -5 V supply to minimize any chance of damage. Sized at 2 in. × 2 in. × 0.5 in., the housing has two SMA connectors and can be bolted onto a heatsink. The unit draws a maximum of 600 mA, and has a typical noise figure of about 8 dB and a maximum input match of 1.5:1.

Wi-Fi adapters
Other World Computing (OWC) has announced the 802.11n Wi-Fi adapters that allow any Macintosh computer to upgrade to 802.11n wireless connectivity via USB, PCMCIA, or PCI card options. Based on the RaLink chipset, these adapters also provide backward compatibility for use on 802.11b and 802.11g networks. With 802.11n, indoor ranges of up to 220 feet (or outdoor up to 500 feet) and performance of up to 300 Mbps are possible (up to five times the range and performance of 802.11g). The adapters are fully tested and supported to work with any G3, G4, G5 or Intel-processor-based Apple Macintosh or PC (with an available PCI, USB 2.0, or PCMCIA card slot) running Apple OS X 10.3.x and later, or Windows 2000/XP and later. Pricing is from $67.99.

Universal system controllers
Remote Technologies has upgraded its line of universal handheld system controllers. The upgrades include the U2 waterproof controller, the T2-Cs universal controller, the T3-V universal controller, and the ZM-24 ZigBee transceiver module. The U2 waterproof controller features an easily read, high-contrast, customizable LCD that can display custom graphics or text. The T2-Cs features an advanced 2.4-inch color touchscreen; the T3-V features a 3.5-inch color VGA touchscreen display. Using the ZigBee protocol, the ZM-24 transceiver module provides bidirectional communication between two-way-enabled RTI remote controls and control processors. The unit can be used as a wireless repeater device to create a reliable, self-healing mesh network or be hardwired directly to a control processor as the coordinator.

LDMOS simulation library
Applied Wave Research (AWR) has completed the release of its Microwave Office 2007 design software simulation library that features NXP Semiconductor's (NXP's) sixth-generation laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) devices. The simulation library provides PA and base station design engineers, as well as designers of WiMAX and wireless broadcasting equipment, with AWR- and NXP-proven large-signal circuit simulation models. The NXP device models contain LDMOS devices from the WiMAX product portfolio. For active, licensed customers of AWR's Microwave Office, the NXP LDMOS process technology simulation library is free. The library can be obtained by contacting NXP at www.nxp.com/support.

Maxim Integrated Products' DS3605 is an I
The DS3605 provides four uncommitted tamper-detection comparator inputs to interface with a variety of tamper-detection mechanisms, such as anti-tamper meshes, external case switches, and digital interlocks. In the event of a primary power failure, the DS3605 switches over to an external battery power source to keep the tamper circuitry alive. This device continuously monitors the substrate temperature and crystal oscillator. If the substrate temperature exceeds the factory-preset levels or changes, the DS3605 initiates a tamper event. Once a tamper event is registered, it is time stamped and stored for analysis.
Packaged in a 5 mm × 5 mm, 25-ball CSBGA for added security, the DS3605 is fully specified from -40 °C to +85 °C. For tracing purposes, each device is inscribed with a 64-bit serial number. Due to the secure nature of this product, contact the factory for the data sheet, samples and pricing.
