Virtualization Apps Cozy Up To 64-Bit Windows
Upgrades to the TenAsys INtime for Windows real-time operating system (RTOS) and eVM for Windows Embedded Virtual Machine Manager enable support for 64-bit Windows. This allows more accessibility to the lower 4-Gbyte memory (32-bit address space) by INtime RTOS, or the guest RTOS in the case of eVM, giving them both access to more memory. In turn, this enables larger real-time apps to run on Windows than previously possible with 32-bit Windows versions. In addition, eVM now works with Intel’s current VT-x and VT-d virtualization technology, making eVM the industry’s first virtualization software to fully leverage Intel’s virtualization hardware support to enable running guest operating systems with Windows on the same platform without the need for modifications to Windows, the guest OS, or the app software in both environments, according to TenAsys. Additionally, TenAsys has updated INtime for Windows to work with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.
