Virtualization Solution Provides Secure Enterprise Access Via Personal Devices

Instead of carrying one smart phone or tablet for business and another for personal use, professionals have been asking their employers for access to company resources via their personal devices. IT departments have been avoiding this messy and difficult problem, though Bitzer Mobile has an answer that may make everyone happy.

The Bitzer Enterprise Virtualized Mobility (EVM) solution isolates corporate data from personal data on employee-owned phones and tablets. It also enables secure remote access of enterprise applications on the same device using a multi-platform native mobile app. Virtualization is the key.

Bitzer’s Mobile Virtualization Layer (MVL) software resides on the company servers (see the figure). IT personnel customize the MVL with the company apps that they want to provide access to. The Bitzer Enterprise Admin Control Panel lets employees access the desired solution. Employees then download the company app as they would any other app on their smart phone or tablet. When they bring up the app, employees see the control panel that gives them direct access to the company software offered.

Bitzer solves the problem of employee access to company resources with virtualization. The Mobile Virtualization Layer address the cloud via a control panel that the employee has access to via a previously downloaded app.

The secret of the EVM is a “virtual container” that is deployed on mobile devices as a native app. IT personnel control it to serve up the right data and access to any application to empowered employees on their mobile device of choice. This addresses the demands of consumerization of the enterprise where an employee’s personal mobile device is often used to access corporate data and decision-making information.

Bitzer’s mobile virtualization and consumerization solution provides some primary benefits to businesses interested in offering remote access to enterprise data and applications on employee-owned and employer-owned mobile devices. First, the integration process is simple. The MVL connects to existing remote access infrastructure to provide mobile data transport, offline synchronization, native views, graphs, and user authentication services to multiple mobile devices. It also enables access to multiple enterprise applications from a single icon on mobile devices. MVLs can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud.
