Software Platform Stresses Interoperability, Community Capability
Recursion Software is showcasing two applications of its
Voyager software platform this week at the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment
show in San Francisco. The Voyager platform
provides true peer-to-peer communications, real-time intelligence, and
interoperability to a range of mobile, desktop, and embedded devices and
multiple languages.
To highlight the platform’s interoperability capabilities, the first demo shows an application running on five different devices/platforms, including:
• a Zypad wearable computer running the .NET CF version of Voyager on Windows CE
• a Zypad wearable computer running the JSE version on Embedded Linux
• an HP PDA running the JME-CDC version on Windows Mobile
• an HTC Windows Mobile device running the .NET CF version on Windows Mobile
• an OHA Android Emulator running the Android version on
Windows Laptop
The application running on these nodes behaves both as a client and server, while
Universal Business Objects are being passed between them not only between nodes
in a peer-to-peer manner, but across four different virtual machines upon which
the application is running.
The second demo illustrates Voyager’s ad hoc role-based communities overlaid with location-based mapping. The stimulated nodes each represent a fan at the Cal versus Stanford Big Game who has requested to find long-lost friends or all fans that belong to a defined community at the game, such as graduation year, major, or Greek affiliation.
Communities can form dynamically in real-time and each node’s location within the community appears with a stadium map overlay. Third parties can also appear to everyone, such as security or emergency personnel. Each person and/or node can join, leave, or add a community dynamically.
