ARM9 MPUs Go Android
Tailored to consumer, industrial, computing, and medical apps, Atmelís SAM9G45 and SAM9M10 32-bit, ARM926-processor based microcontrollers now support the Android operating system (OS) (see the figure). A full board support package (BSP) for the OS employing SAM9M10-G45-EK boards allows developers to run Android on an Atmel ARM9 processor. Based on version 2.1, the Atmel Android port supports a camera interface, hardware video decoding (for the SAM9M10 only), software decoding, and Web browsing via an Ethernet cable or a Wi-Fi secure digital input-output (SDIO) dongle from H&D Wireless.
