DiVitas Networks and AirMagnet converge on wireless to deliver enterprise voice over Wi-Fi solutions
DiVitas Networks announced at the Interop Conference that it is working with AirMagnet Inc. to deliver next-generation, voice over Wi-Fi solutions for enterprises. The combination of DiVitas' mobility solutions and AirMagnet's wireless security and analysis solutions allows for the deployment of dual-mode handsets as a cost-effective and reliable alternative to traditional desk phones.
DiVitas' mobile communications solution, which works in any WLAN environment, with any PBX, and over any type of fixed, mobile or wireless network, extends the reach of the enterprise by providing seamless roaming between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The solution also integrates with business and enhanced communications applications such as CRM.
"There are two issues facing the VoIP industry now--one is the lack of fast roaming and QoS on internal VoIP-enabled WLANs," said Vivek Khuller, president and CEO of DiVitas Networks. The other issue is the complicated technology behind handing off live calls between an internal voice over Wi-Fi and an external cellular network."
The ability to provide enterprise-level voice over Wi-Fi complete with smooth call handoff is crucial in a rapidly expanding market. According to a survey by InfoTech, the enterprise voice over Wi-Fi market will grow to $1.1 billion by 2010, and the majority of sales will come from the deployment of dual-mode handsets.
In addition to AirMagnet's mobile products, DiVitas will use AirMagnet's award winning dedicated monitoring and security solution to provide remote monitoring and troubleshooting services for its customers. DiVitas has teamed with AirMagnet to ensure customers are getting the security and performance required to support voice on their wireless infrastructures.
