Clear Your Calendar For Two Upcoming Conferences
If you haven’t been to any of the wireless conferences hosted by Avren Events, you have a couple of dates to add to your calendar. Avren sponsors conferences around the world, mainly on wireless technology and other hot industry topics. For example, check out Femtocells USA 2008, scheduled for Dec. 1-3, and Next Generation Networks & Basestations, Dec. 3-5, both at the Las Colinas Marriott in Irving, Texas.
These conferences are relatively small, with several hundred attendees. But they always feature top executives from carriers, wireless operators, telecom equipment manufacturers, semiconductor companies, and market research firms. They’re good places to get an update on the latest technology, industry status, and products. While they may offer few exhibits, they do provide lots of time for networking. Quality, not quantity, is their best feature.
Gordon Mansfield, director of RAN planning at AT&T, will open Femtocells USA 2008 with a look at whether femtocells represent a threat or opportunity for wireless providers. Andrea Giustina of Ubiquisys will present effective strategies for mass-market femtocell deployment. Other speakers will investigate WiMAX, next-generation technologies, business models, customer acceptance, and many other issues via more than a dozen talks and panels.
Stanley Chia, senior director of Vodafone, will provide the opening keynote at Next Generation Networks & Basestations USA, discussing the reinvention of radio network deployment. Rasmus Hellberg, director of technical marketing at Qualcomm, will examine the building of 4G networks from the inside out. More than a dozen other speakers and panels will tackle topics as varied as renewable energy sources, Long Term Evolution (LTE), and new markets, among others.
