KLEA plans on leveraging the LiMo Platform to create LiMo World, an application development, publishing, and distribution program designed to act as a single point of entry for Korean developers who want to develop for the LiMo Platform. The group also wants to give these developers the necessary tools and localization support to springboard them into the international mobile application market.

The KLEA board comprises five member companies and Hoojong Kim, senior vice president of SK Telecom, who was elected as chair of the board during the May 4 meeting. The board will act as the key decision-making body. It will oversee the association’s promotion in Korea. Also, the board will set up strategic links with relevant parties and the expansion of the community.

Launched in January 2007, the LiMo Foundation strives to provide the mobile industry with an open, consistent, Mobile Linux-based handset operating system and enable the development of immersive, next-generation mobile consumer experiences. Its membership includes OEMs, technology developers, and 11 global network operators that collectively represent nearly a billion mobile subscribers.
