Management Tools Accelerate Small Cell Deployment

Small-cell network developer/manufacturer ip.access has released its Network Orchestration System (NOS) management tool for the small-cell layer of mobile operator networks. NOS combines a suite of tools that enable fast deployment of small cells and new services with the ability to manage and improve small-cell performance and the interaction between the macro network and the small-cell layer. The system includes four management tools: Network Register, SON Support, App Manager, and OysterCatcher. Network Register enables quick rollouts of private consumer small-cell services by bridging the gap between the small cells and the operator’s business systems. SON Support consists of an interface to the SON infrastructure that ensures network layers work together, i.e., switching calls from layer to layer with no dropouts or interference. App Manager supports the GSMA’s OneAPI open standard and helps operators introduce location-based services that don’t depend on GPS data. Lastly, OysterCatcher provides remote diagnostics and performance monitoring, capturing performance statistics from access points and aggregating data across the small cell layer.
