OpenSL ES Spec Enables Stereo/3D Audio On Mobile Platforms
Via the Khronos Group, the OpenSL ES 1.1 specification for low-latency audio across any mobile and embedded device platform or operating system is now available. It enables psycho-acoustically enhanced 3D audio for a range of apps including gaming, music, videoconferencing, ringtones, plus stereo and MIDI functionality. OpenSL ES also works with portable designs employing older hardware, providing a common reference application programming interface (API) that allows any device to achieve the maximum audio performance available for its hardware. Royalty-free, the specification is downloadable at www.khronos.org/opensles.
