Power amplifier targets 3G dual-band handsets
The latest member to join Anadigics’ growing family of WCDMA power amplifiers is AWT6224, a dual-band module that supports both IMT (UMTS2100) and EGSM (UMTS900) band operations. It incorporates the company’s proprietary HELP3 technology, which reduces average current consumption by 75% and provides up to 25% increased talk time in 3G handsets, according to Anadigics. The PA also includes a built-in voltage regulator and CMOS-compatible logic controls.
Like the AWT6281, the AWT6224 incorporates proprietary InGaP-Plus technology for state-of-the-art reliability, temperature stability and ruggedness. The PA module is RoHS compliant. The 3 mm x 5 mm x 1mm surface mount package incorporates matching networks optimized for output power, efficiency and linearity in a 50 Ω system, said the manufacturer.
The PA is sampling now, with volume production scheduled for the end of second quarter. Priced at $3.07 each in 1,000 unit quantities.
