SSV RTOS Welcomes Android

Via its PikeOS safe and secure virtualization (SSV) real-time operating system (RTOS), Sysgo supports the Android operating system as a guest OS. PikeOS enables multiple OS interfaces, dubbed personalities, to work on separate sets of resources within one system. Personalities include Linux, POSIX, RTEMS, ARINC-653, and others. The OS enforces resource separation, enabling multiple apps with individual safety and security requirements and belonging to different personalities to co-exist on the same hardware. Android, an OS evolving from a modified Linux kernel, includes a Java-based interface that allows programs to execute via a JIT interpreter. Most Android devices rely on the ARM architecture and most Android code is available under the Apache License, a free software and open-source license. Support for the Android personality is available now on ARM and x86 architectures.
