Symbian Software Development Migrates To Accenture
As part of a strategic collaboration, Nokia plans to outsource its Symbian software activities and transition relevant employees to Accenture. In turn, Accenture will provide mobility software services to Nokia for emerging smart phones. The collaboration is currently subject to final agreement. Briefly, it sets Accenture as the provider of Symbian-based software development and support services with an expected transition of about 3000 Nokia employees to Accenture. Both companies foresee completion of the agreement this summer and expect complete transitioning of employees by the end of this year. This collaboration also includes plans for Accenture to provide mobility software, business, and operational services around the Windows Phone platform to Nokia and other ecosystem participants.
