High-Voltage Trimmers Serve Non-Magnetic Systems
Sprague-Goodman Electronics has developed a line of non-magnetic trimmer capacitors for high-voltage applications. The firm's SGNM line of rugged trimmer capacitors covers a total capacitance range of less than 1 pF to more than 180 pF in a package measuring 2.55 in. long by 0.70 in. diameter and sealed to 40 psi. The capacitors are rated to working voltages as high as 7.5 kV and withstanding voltages as high as 15 kW. Based on high-purity ceramic material, the trimmers are suitable for cryogenic applications down to 4 K. An example of the line, model SGNM11506, tunes from below 1 pF to above 15 pF with a quality factor (Q) of 2000 at 25 MHz. It is rated for working voltages to 2 kV and withstanding voltages to 6 kV.
