Global Mobile will deploy the Bridgewater Systems Service Controller and Policy Controller WiMAX solutions in the northern region of Taiwan to deliver mobile Internet, mobile TV, interactive media services, digital audio, and mobile advertising to consumers and enterprises. In conjunction with CommVerge Solutions, Global Mobile also will launch commercial services in the Hsinchu area before the end of 2009 and extend coverage to the Taipei area in 2010.

With Bridgewater’s WiMAX solutions, Global Mobile will be able to rapidly launch services through over-the-air provisioning of subscribers, devices, and on-demand service models. This enables subscribers to activate their subscription at their own convenience and select plan features and applications without visiting a store or calling customer service.

Furthermore, Global Mobile says that it will be able to deliver innovative, personalized services including casual usage based on time or volume such as day passes for a new application, prepaid services, and applications that can be personalized based on the subscriber’s location, context, or usage. The company says it will reduce operating costs as well by eliminating the need for customer service representatives to manually activate services, devices, and firmware updates.

The Bridgewater Service Controller authorizes and authenticates subscribers and provides critical accounting functions. It fully complies with the WiMAX Network Working Group Stage 3 specification. The Policy Controller provides real-time network, application, and subscriber policies to personalize services and manage mobile data growth. It also enables over-the-air provisioning and on-demand services. The Bridgewater Subscriber Data Broker unifies subscriber information, including service entitlements, devices, networks, billing profiles, preferences, and context while providing the tools to broker this data to systems and applications.
