WUSB developer to demonstrate TELEC-certified module
Alereon has announced the company will demonstrate at CEATEC the first high-performance modules developed by Murata and based on Alereon's AL5000 chipset for worldwide Wireless USB (WUSB) applications. The module has passed Japanese regulatory TELEC test certification, allowing over-the-air operation in band group 6; thus, the demonstrations will include two WUSB modules communicating in band group 6 over the air. Modules will also demonstrate receiver sensitivity through a cabled connection across band groups 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. In addition, modules will be connected to a spectrum analyzer to demonstrate the transmit spectrum across band groups 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The chipset is ideal for Certified WUSB, Bluetooth or WiMedia manufacturers seeking to enter the worldwide market. A single worldwide AL5000 chipset enables research and development, certification, manufacturing logistics and inventory to be streamlined, resulting in significant project-cost and development-time reductions. Initial samples of the WUSB modules from Murata based on the chipset are now available to qualified alpha customers.
