High-performance RF sockets provide EMI shielding
Centipede Systems has introduced a high-performance Centurion RF socket family with full Faraday shielding that eliminates EMI leakage. The Centurion’s Faraday cage shields socket contacts and eliminates any coupling to circuit elements. The shield cage includes a gimbal-mounted heat sink rated at 10 W (air cooled) to assist in heat dissipation. In addition, an EMI gasket seals the aluminum clamshell to complete the Faraday cage for EMI containment. The sockets provide clean power-and-ground connections with an estimated 0.25 nH inductance per pin. Moreover, impedance-controlled signal contact pins extend socket performance to 10 GHz. Contact pins of proven reliability are rated at 500,000 insertions.
The new product family is available for CSP, µBGA, LGA and QFN package formats with pitches ranging from 1.0 mm to as small as 0.4 mm. Operating temperature range is specified from –55 ºC to 150 ºC.
