China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has bestowed its blessing on Sequans Communications’ Long-Term Evolution (LTE) semiconductor technology. Essentially, MIIT’s approval enables Sequans’ technology for use in China’s vast LTE networks. For several months, the SQN3010 TD-LTE baseband chip underwent MIIT performance and interoperability testing in the 2.3- and 2.6-GHz bands. Simultaneously, interoperability testing progressed with system vendors Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Alcatel-Lucent’s Chinese subsidiary. In addition to Alcatel-Lucent, and Huawei, Sequans has completed LTE interoperability testing on a private basis with Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, and ZTE.
