Miniature GPS grade TCXOs exhibit very tight frequency stability

NDK (Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd.) has released SMD temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) ) series NT2520SA that measures 2.5 x 2.0 mm with a height of only 0.8 mm max. And weighs just 0.013 g. Thus, making it one of the smallest and lightest TCXOs available in the world, claimed NDK. Exhibiting very tight frequency stability of ±0.5 ppm over the broad operating temperature range of –30 °C to +85 °C, TCXO oscillators are aimed at GPS, PND, and cellular phone handset applications. It is available in frequencies ranging from 13 to 38.4 MHz and popular GPS frequencies of 13, 16.368, 16.369, 16.8, 19.2, 24.5535, 26, 27.456, and 38.4 MHz.

The NT2520SA operates on a low supply voltage range of +2.4 to 3.2 VDC ±0.1 V while drawing just 1.5 mA max with an output level of 0.8 Vp-p minimum. Aging characteristics are ±1 ppm maximum per year. The NT2520SA is in lead-free packaging which meets the requirements for reflow profiling using lead-free solder and is RoHS compliant.

Delivery for the NT2520SA series is 12 weeks ARO. In 10,000 pieces, the NT2520SA packaged tape and reel is approximately $1.65 each. Qualified engineering samples can be ordered at no cost, said NDK
