CMOS op amps push limits of precision

Linear Technology Corp. has introduced two new CMOS operational amplifiers that push the limits of precision with 3.5 MHz gain-bandwidth and less than 90 µV offset over the entire –40 °C to +125 °C temperature range. The dual LTC6081 and quad LTC6082 achieve low frequency noise of just 1.3 µVp-p and low input bias current of 1 pA max at 25 °C, making these amplifiers ideal for precision instrumentation. Plus, they feature rail-to-rail input and output stages. According to LTC, the op amps combine precision with excellent speed-power ratio to open up new possibilities for designers of low-power instrumentation systems.

The LTC6081 and LTC6082 only consume 330 µA per amplifier and offer an optional shutdown feature, allowing the current to be reduced to 0.5 µA per amplifier, which provides further savings in battery power. In addition, the amplifiers have an uncompromising gain bandwidth of 3.5 MHz and a slew rate of 1V/ µs. The LTC6081 and LTC6082 offer a CMRR of 105 dB and PSSR of 90 dB, while the large signal voltage gain of 120 dB ensures gain linearity.

The dual LTC6081 is offered in the 8-pin MSOP and tiny 3 mm x 3 mm DFN package. While the quad LTC6082 is available in the 16-pin SSOP and 5 mm x 3 mm DFN packages. A 1,000-piece pricing starts at $1.74 each for the LTC6081 and $2.97 each for the LTC6082.
