Modem Manages LTE, UMTS, And GSM Networks

The triple-mode E398 modem from Huawei is compatible with Long-Term Evolution (LTE), UMTS, and GSM. Based on Qualcomm’s MDM9200 chipset, the company says, it enables users to surf with high speed provided by LTE technology while seamlessly switching to UMTS or GSM. It supports multiple mainstream LTE frequencies as well.

According to Huawei, the E398 addresses increasing requirements for operators to introduce commercial LTE services with flexible evolution roadmaps. The company also says that end users won’t have to wait for the complete LTE network before they can enjoy speeds that are 10 times faster as well as continuous surfing.

The E398 initially will be launched in the world’s first LTE/GSM shared network in Sweden operated by Net4Mobility, a joint infrastructure venture between Tele2Sweden and Telenor Sweden. The same operators have selected Huawei to develop the infrastructure and terminal solutions of their nationwide LTE networks in Sweden.
