Tecore announces 700 MHz capability across multitech mobile networks

Tecore Networks announced that its portfolio of core and radio access network products is capable of operation in the 700-MHz frequency band. The software-defined core platform bridges networks from legacy TDM through next-generation IMS, thus implementing an unprecedented any-to-any connectivity model to support GSM, CDMA, GPRS/EDGE, 1xRTT, EV-DO, Wi-Fi and WiMAX technologies from a common baseline.

The end result is a 700-MHz solution that interoperates with the commercially available systems in the market today. Interoperability is critical as numerous access technologies are being positioned for the upcoming U.S. auctions of 700-MHz spectrum licenses. Block C of the spectrum requires the operator to allow any device to connect to the network, and Block D will be used for a public safety network, thus heightening the need for interoperability. The FCC will commence the 700-MHz spectrum auction on January 24, 2008.

“The broad availability of spectrum, together with the particular conditions on access, emphasize the need for flexible, scalable and reliable technologies,” said Doss McComas, vice president of Business Development, Tecore Networks. “Tecore’s products are based on standards adopted by almost three billion mobile subscribers worldwide, and support interoperability between all of the major protocols. We look forward to discussions with 700 MHz bidders to determine how these products can be adapted to their specific network plans.”
