New Wireless USB reference design
WiQuest Communications, Inc. has announced availability of its seventh reference design kit. This new Wireless USB Device Embedded Card reference design enables device equipment manufacturers to build complete Wireless USB solutions with minimal cost and risk. This is the latest in a series of WiQuest products that customers are using to build on as they develop wireless USB products.
When coupled with WiQuest’s Wireless USB Adapter, Wireless USB Mini Card or Half Mini Card on the host side, the Device Embedded Card hardware and associated software provide a complete, highly integrated, end-to-end Certified Wireless USB solution. The Device Embedded Card is available now for integration in Wireless USB devices. Peripheral product manufacturers will be introducing products based on the Wireless USB Device Embedded Card in 2008.
The reference design kit includes hardware, software, schematics, layout source files, detailed bill-of-materials, design manual, manufacturing test solution, user’s guide and a quick-start guide. The software package includes complete Device Wire Adapter (DWA) driver/firmware to enable a standard USB peripheral to be transformed into a Wireless USB peripheral. It also includes a Microsoft Windows-based utility, which supports device discovery, field upgrade functionality, and comprehensive diagnostics.
In addition to the Wireless USB Device Embedded Card, WiQuest’s product line consists of four additional reference design kits based on Certified Wireless USB from the USB Implementers Forum: the Wireless USB Mini Card, Half Mini Card, Wireless USB 4-port Hub and Adapter Reference Design Kits. All of these reference design kits will enable equipment manufacturers to build complete solutions from pairs of robust reference platforms. WiQuest’s complete UWB solution is also the industry’s fastest, at greater than 1 Gbps. WiQuest reference designs for wireless digital video include the Wireless Docking Station and Mini Card with WiDV.
