GaAs MMIC SPDT switch serves myriad applications
A wide frequency range, high isolation, low insertion loss, excellent linearity, and 2.5 to 5.3 V operation gallium arsenide (GaAs) MMIC SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) from NEC's California Eastern Labs, labeled UPG2179TB, delivers all-around performance. Offering a frequency range of 0.5 to 3.0 GHz, its P1dB is rated at +32 dBm typical at 2.0 GHz, 3.0 V. And isolation is 27 dB typical at 2.0 GHz. Other features include insertion loss of 0.30 dB typical at 2.0 GHz. The third-order intercept point is +60 dBm at 3.0 V
Designed to be used in TX/RX (transmit and receive), antenna diversity and band select switching, the UPG2179TB is suitable for cellular and cordless handsets, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, and short-range wireless applications to 3.0 GHz. Housed in an industry-standard SOT-363 package that’s a drop-in, pin-for-pin replacement for other switches on the market, it can bring higher levels of performance to existing designs. The UPG2179TB is priced at 29¢ in 100K quantities and is available now from California Eastern Labs.
