M/A-COM extends amplifier family for infrastructure applications
M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a major supplier of wireless RF, microwave and millimeter-wave components, has released a new family of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 W amplifiers for commercial base station and repeater infrastructure applications.
"The decreased noise figure of the new amplifiers is much improved over the traditional MMIC IC device," said Peter Lau, M/A-COM product manager. "We were able to achieve this while maintaining similar power output performance, which results in a higher dynamic range. These amps were designed with package devices whereas our previous models were designed with open die, creating a more reliable product." The family of amplifiers includes:
- SMA2001--a broadband, high-dynamic cascadable amplifier with a low noise figure of 2.5 dB and high IP3 of 36.5 dBm.
- PA2001--1 W RF linear driver amplifier with a low noise figure of 2 dB and a high OIP3 level of +46.5 dBm.
- PA2003--2 W RF linear driver amplifier with a low noise figure of 2.1 dB and a high OIP3 level of +49 dBm.
