MINT RF tester handles North American GSM/GPRS testing
Centro de Tecnología de las Comunicaciones, S.A. (CETECOM) in Spain has announced that MINT (Mobile Communications Integrated Tester) has been selected by PVG (PCS 850/1900 Validation Group) as one of the reference platforms to carry out GSM RF conformance testing according to NAPRD.03 (North America Program Reference Document).
PVG is a group of validation organizations working in the field of PCS 850/1900 and associated technologies. One of their main tasks is to select the right test equipment to be used by PTCRB (PCS Type Certification Review Board)-accredited laboratories. PTCRB is the certification scheme that must be followed by mobile communications manufacturers to obtain an IMEI for mobile devices intended for the North American market, and it is becoming a de-facto standard for those companies aiming to commercialize GSM products in the United States and Canada. This selected test equipment must provide a high level of confidence regarding the execution of the tests included in the 3GPP TS 51.010-1 standard.
The MINT RF tester is a dual-mode test system for 2G/2.5G/3G products that automatically performs the conformance RF test specifications for GSM 850/900/1800/1900, GPRS and WCDMA FDD. MINT also supports protocol conformance test cases for WCDMA according to 3GPP TS 34.123-3.
According to Juan Carlos Mora, product manager at CETECOM Spain, "After getting GCF validation in a record time, we are now very proud that MINT is an accepted platform for PTCRB testing. We are seeing an enormous interest in the mobile communications industry."
