Handheld Spectrum Analyzer Option Handles HD Radio
The HD Radio measurement application for the N9340B handheld RF spectrum analyzer is the lowest-cost IBOC solution with one-button auto tune and channel-list functions, according to Agilent Technologies Inc. Specifically designed to test broadcast AM and FM HD radio signals, the application supports NRSC-5 spectral emission limit masks and enables fast and easy testing.
The application has specially added hardware for improved phase noise performance and application measurement software for the quick se up of IBOC emission measurements. It supports analog, digital, and hybrid spectral emission limit masks for measuring radio signal emissions, including four AM signal standards [73.44 (analog), NRSC-5-B Hybrid 5k, Hybrid 8k, and all digital] and three FM signal standards [73.317 (analog), NRSC-5-B Hybrid, and all digital]. For other limit mask requirements, users can simply edit or create masks directly on the N9340B or with the PC software tool. They also can convert mask files from an Agilent ESA Series spectrum analyzer to the N9340B format.
The one-button auto-tune function calculates the appropriate reference level and center frequency following the recommended guidelines from the National Radio Systems Committee, saving significant measurement time. The channel-list function lets users save, reload, delete, and copy measurement settings as necessary for quicker setups.
Agilent’s HD Radio measurement application, the N9340B-IBC, is available through Agilent direct sales or through Agilent’s authorized distributors. It is in stock now at TESSCO. Option IBC costs $2729.
