Simulator Handles Latest LTE Basestation Tests

Developed in conjunction with leading chipset manufacturers, the MD8430A Signaling Tester is the first LTE basestation simulator, providing flexible and responsive support for the latest 3GPP LTE standard, according to Anritsu Co. The instrument provides an accurate and cost-effective solution for manufacturers of LTE chipsets and mobile devices to evaluate their products and improve time-to-market, the company said.

The tester’s four RF units enable 2-by-2 MIMO system handover tests in a simulated network environment. The simulator can also conduct end-to-end testing at downlink speeds up to 100 Mbits/s and uplink speeds to 50 Mbits/s. It supports all key 3GPP air-interface LTE protocol tests, including base band coding/decoding processing tests; protocol sequence tests, such as position registration, origination, termination, handover, terminal, and network disconnect tests; and application tests. The instrument also provides powerful L1/L2 cache analysis functions.

The MD8430A can be easily integrated with Anritsu’s MD8480C W-CDMA Signaling Tester to create a measurement solution that reduces overall development costs. The MD8480C supports simulation of both W-CDMA/HSPA (up to Release 7) and GSM/GPRS/EGPRS basestations, allowing LTE-UTRAN/GERAN Inter-RAT handover tests.

To further simplify measurement and analysis, the MD8430A can be used with Anritsu’s PTS and RTD. PTS is a 3GPP-compliant R&D and test tool environment for creating and executing call connection scenarios in TTCN-3. RTD offers an intuitive GUI for managing libraries, and running tests ranging from terminal function tests to operator terminal acceptance tests.

The MD8430A Signaling Tester is the first Long-Term Evolution (LTE) basestation simulator, providing flexible and responsive support for the latest 3GPP LTE standard, according to Anritsu Co.
