Collaboration Yields LTE Network Capacity Test Solution

Aeroflex and NetHawk have developed a complete system for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network capacity testing over RF with real data services and applications. According to the companies, the EAST500 is a single integrated test system based upon proven test solutions: Aeroflex’s LTE RF air interface technology integrated with NetHawk’s load test capability.

The EAST500 hardware is flexible and scalable depending on the amount of user equipment and the number of cells required. The system offers true end-to-end LTE load testing over RF in both frequency-division duplex (FDD) and time-division duplex (TDD) environments. It was successfully demonstrated at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.

The Aeroflex TM500 LTE RF air interface integrated with the EAST500 has already completed interoperability testing with every major infrastructure vendor worldwide. Aeroflex’s installed base allows EAST500 to dramatically reduce the time taken by manufacturers to get up and running, the companies say. Compared to alternative solutions, they also claim, the EAST500 reduces test time from months to days.

According to the companies, the EAST500 addresses the challenge of testing the complete LTE infrastructure prior to network rollout to ensure its performance under loaded conditions and deliver the best experience to subscribers. The EAST500 network capacity test system is configured for each customer’s needs.
