With options, handheld analyzer performs RF, demodulation, OTA measurements
Anritsu Company has introduced three CDMA2000 1xEV-DO options for its Cell Master MT8212B handheld analyzer. Expanding the analysis capability to include RF, demodulation and over-the-air (OTA) measurements on CDMA2000 1xEV-DO signals, the options allow the MT8212B to be used by RF engineers, maintenance personnel and cell site technicians responsible for the deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting and optimization of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO base stations and networks.
In addition to the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO options, the company also announces power monitor and bias tee options for the Cell Master MT8212B. The power monitor gives the Cell Master the ability to measure the transmitter power of wireless back haul networks up to 50 GHz. Designed directly into the Cell Master, the bias tee is for applications in which both DC and RF signals must be applied to a device under test, such as a tower-mounted amplifier (TMA).
The 1xEV-DO RF measurement option expands the Cell Master MT8212B's measurement capability to include Pilot/Mac power, Pilot power, frequency error, measured bandwidth, idle/active activity, and idle/active data on CDMA2000 1xEV-DO signals. With the1xEV-DO demodulator option, the Cell Master demodulates CDMA2000 1xEV-DO signals and displays code domain power as Mac code power or data power. Mac code power measurement displays are Pilot/Mac power, noise floor, Rho overall 1, Rho overall 2, Rho pilot, data modulation type, channel power, frequency error, EVM, pilot time tolerance (tau), and carried feedthrough. Data code power measurement shows both the I and Q channels.
The 1xEV-DO demodulator and a built-in GPS are required for the EVDO OTA option. The OTA option displays Pilot dominance, multipath power, the three strongest pilots with power, and the two strongest multipaths relative to the strongest pilot.
Combining the functionality of a cable and antenna analyzer, spectrum analyzer and power meter in a durable instrument that is less than five pounds, Cell Master MT8212B allows users to perform a wide array of verification tests and signal analyses with only a few keystrokes. It is designed to conduct diagnostics and verification of base station RF cable feed-line and antenna systems; OTA signal identification; interference analysis; power measurement; and voice/data traffic error and fault location of T1 and E1 circuits. In addition to CDMA2000 1xEV-DO networks, the Cell Master MT8212B has been developed for use with virtually all 2.5G and 3G wireless networks. Pricing of the Cell Master base station analyzer starts at $13,950. The 1xEV-DO RF measurements option is $1250, the 1xEV-DO demodulation option is $3400 and 1xEV-DO OTA option is $1875. Delivery is eight weeks ARO.
