Multipurpose Impedance Tuner Is Portable Solution

Innovative impedance-tuner supplier Focus Microwaves (www.focus-microwaves.com) has developed a flexible and compact solution for making VSWR and harmonic measurements through 12 GHz: the iMPT-Lite-1208 multipurpose tuner. The easy-to-manage tuner works with other instrumentation, such as a microwave vector network analyzer (VNA), to evaluate the behavior of different components and devices at a range of impedance mismatches. Ideal for a testing wireless devices for Bluetooth, GSM, wireless local area networks (WLANs), and WiMAX applications, the portable tuner covers a fundamental and second-harmonic frequency range o 0.8 to 12.0 GHz with tuning capability to a high VSWR of 100.0:1 at fundamental frequencies. For harmonic tuning, the VSWR range is better than 10.0:1 to 100.0:1. The insertion loss is a mere 0.3 dB while the minimum repeatability is -40 dB, with typical repeatability of -50 dB. The iMPT-Lite-1208 multipurpose tuner weighs only 25 lbs, allowing it to be readily moved around a research or test facility. For a full-length review of the iMPT-Lite-1208 multipurpose tuner, see the upcoming September 2008 issue of Microwaves & RF.
