Signal generator offers four phase synchronous channels
Novatech Instruments, Inc. has released a four-channel 170 MHz direct digital synthesizer (DDS) table top signal generator with 0.1 Hz frequency resolution and ±1.5 ppm accuracy. The model 409A features four phase synchronous sine or cosine outputs up to 170 MHz, serial control, 500 MHz external clock input, and on-board temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), stable to ±1.5 ppm. This comes in a small table-top shielded instrument case. Based on the Analog Devices AD9959, the 409A has 32 bits of frequency resolution, 10 bits of amplitude resolution, and 14 bits of phase resolution on each of the four channels. The small table-top case allows the 409A to be integrated into test stations and other applications requiring multiple and frequency agile outputs. When used with the external clock input, all 409A units can be synchronized to a system-wide frequency standard.
For ATE applications, the 409A can store up to 32k profile points consisting of phase, frequency, dwell time, and amplitude settings. The profile can then be sequenced automatically without further control from the host computer. The serial control with simple text commands features non-volatile storage of all settings. Menu-driven control software (SOF8) is included. The 409A operates from a nominal +5 VDC power source using the provided AC adapter, or a customer supplied +5 VDC. Up to four 409As can be mounted in optional rack-adapter to fit 16 channels in a single 1U space. The 409A is available from stock for $995. OEM discounts and custom versions are available.
