Reflective-object sensor detects diffuse materials
OPTEK Technology’s OPB609 series of cost-effective reflective object sensors features three lead options. The series is available with axial, gull-wing or right-angle lead configurations, and the epoxy package is spectrally matched to an IR emitter’s λ value (940 nm), cutting λ values under 840 nm. Each sensor consists of an IR LED and an NPN silicon phototransistor mounted side-by-side on parallel axes.
The phototransistor features a collector-emitter voltage of 30 V and emitter-collector voltage of 5 V. Collector dc current is 50 mA, with a power dissipation rating of 75 mW. The 940 nm IR LED has a maximum forward voltage of 1.7 V and a reverse dc voltage of 5 V. Forward dc current is 50 mA, with a maximum reverse current of 10 µA and peak forward current of 1 A. Power dissipation rating is 75 mW over an operating temperature range between –25°C and +85°C. OPTEK will also produce devices to meet specific customer requirements.
Typical pricing for the OPB609 Series object sensor ranges from $0.28 to $0.42 each in quantities of 1000. Custom electrical specifications, wire and cabling, and connectors are also available.
