Paratek Selects Agilent ADS Software For Antenna Tuning Module
Paratek Microwave has selected the Advanced Design System (ADS) software from Agilent Technologies for use in the development of tunable antenna modules for mobile handsets. The accuracy, capacity, and performance offered by ADS will help Paratek in the design of optimized modules as well as in the creation of models for its customers, according to the companies.
Paratek develops tunable RF solutions that dramatically improve RF performance and battery life in handsets, the company says. Its range of products includes adaptive impedance matching modules (AIMMs), radio antenna frequency tuners (RAFT), and a family of tunable discrete components and sense and control ICs. Its solutions are based on passive tunable ICs using a proprietary dielectric material known as ParaScan.
“We specifically selected Agilent’s ADS software and its 3D Planar EM simulator, Momentum, because of its accuracy, versatility, speed, capacity, proven performance, and availability as the design environment of choice for our mobile handset customers,” said John Spears, director of product development with Paratek. “By providing these customers with ADS models for our products, we can ensure they have the tools they need to accurately design and optimize the performance of their designs.”
The ADS electronic design automation software targets RF, microwave, and signal integrity applications (see the figure). It provides full, standards-based design and verification with wireless libraries and circuit-system-EM co-simulation in an integrated platform for WiMAX, Long-Term Evolution (LTE), multi-gigabit/s data links, radar, and satellite applications.
Pantek will use Agilent’s Advanced Design System (ADS) software to develop tunable antenna modules for mobile handsets. ADS targets RF, microwave, and signal integrity applications.
