Single source now offers RFID tag printer for physical layer deployment
ADT Security Services Inc., a part of Tyco Fire & Security, has unveiled a RFID tag printer that rounds out the Sensormatic RFID Launch Package. With this offering, ADT can now provide retailers and manufacturers with a full supply chain solution for physical layer deployment from a single source. ADT's RFID printer, developed by Irvine, Calif.-based Printronix Inc., is an EPC-based Class 0, 0+ and 1 standards that will give end users with mixed-class applications the ability to immediately standardize on a single model while protecting their investment.
"ADT can now offer customers an entire supply-chain physical layer RFID solution, including readers, antennas, tags, device and data software and printers, as well as installation, service and support," said Randy Dunn, director of ADT's RFID Division. "Our Sensormatic RFID Launch Package guarantees interoperability between components."
The new RFID printer features a rugged design that prints labels of various sizes, including the launch package's 3 X 3 label, it and tracks good/bad label statistics. When the printer detects an unusable RFID label, it completely overstrikes the label, making it obvious to the end user to discard it.
