Real-time clock module is ultra-small
An "all-in-one-package" real-time clock module from from the Micro Crystal division of the Swatch Group is ultra-small. This miniature ceramic package has been designed to combine a 32.768 Hz timing crystal with a complete CMOS oscillator circuit. The RV-1564-C2 measures just 5.0 mm x 3.2 mm x 1.2 mm in an SON 10-pin package. Its high stability and low current consumption are suitable for today's high-performance portable equipment. It is 100% lead-free.
The real time clock-calendar functions track year, month and day with built-in century and leap-year flags. The clock function offers programmable output and tracks hour, minute, second and hundredth of a second in 24- or 12-hour formats. Programmable alarm settings and universal timer functions further increase flexibility. The output frequency is I2C bus-programmable to 32.768 kHz, 1.02410 kHz, 32 Hz or 1 Hz. Applications include both fixed and portable instruments, appliances, security equipment, computers, communications and data loggers.
Current consumption in backup mode is only 250 nA typical at 2 V and 800 µA during access, (1.2-5.5 V supply range). Frequency tolerance is ±15 ppm, with tighter tolerance optional. Operating temperature range is from ─40°C to +85°C with a storage range of –55°C to +125°C standard. For pick-and-place equipment, 12 mm tapes are available in 7 inches (1500 part) and 10 inches (3500 part) sizes.
The real-time clock modules are available in production quantities, with six- to ten-week delivery.
